Smålandsharpa

This is my own model of nyckelharpa - I call it for a "Småländsk Contrabass Chromatic Nyckelharpa". This one was built by myself and finished in 1997. With this special model of a nyckelharpa I want to combine an oldtime look and bordoune sound together with todays chromatic scaling. With one additional bordoune string it is possible to play with a buzzing sound like an oldtime "kontrabasharpa".

My tuning
A (1st melody string)
D, E, G or A (additional kontrabass string)
C (2nd melody string)
G (3rd melody/double tone string)
D ("big bass" string)

Conventional keyed fiddle tuning
A (1st melody string)
C (2nd melody string)
G (3rd melody/double tone string)
C ("big bass" string)

No autotune, but with a decent tool there´s no problem :-)

The strings are:

1st melody string a1
two resonance strings
additional bordoune (contrabass) string
2nd melody string c1
two resonance strings
3rd melody string g
four resonance strings
big bass string d
