He had a small record player in a briefcase with him when on tour and he reportedly mostly played "Don't Worry, Baby". Before he got playing drums in The Who, he had a band that played Beach Boys-covers.

On R.E.M.'s album "Up" there was a song called "At My Most Beautiful" which many people call the best song on the album and which was a tribute to Brian Wilson. Both Peter Buck and Mike Mills of R.E.M. ar huge fans of Brian Wilson and the boys.

He has on many occasions described how he was influenced by Brian Wilson's productions and talent for creating great melodies. Many of ABBA's songs sounds like they have been produced in Brian Wilson-style.

Has on numerous occasions named "God Only Knows" as the most beautiful song ever written. Pet Sounds was also the main inspiration for "Sgt. Pepper".
