A midfield player for the future, who joined the Royals on transfer deadline day in March 1998 from Newcastle United for £50,000. Although born in the USA he qualifies to play for the Republic of Ireland and is a former Under 21 international. He made his debut for Reading as a substitute against Ipswich Town in March 1998, and after a season of injury problems he celebrated the beginning of the 1999/2000 campaign by scoring a dramatic late winner against Bristol City.
