Born Hornchurch 07.09.67. Signed from Plymouth Argyle on loan in
December 1995, becoming the fourth of six keepers used by Reading
that season, with the move being made permanent for £40,000 a
month later. An Arsenal apprentice, he made his League debut
on loan at Bristol Rovers in 1986, joining Swindon Town on a
free in July 1987 for an eight year stay at the County Ground.
He failed to establish a regular place under Tommy Burns but
took up coaching duties alongside caretaker manager Alan Pardew.
