Letter from the editor

Dear Shortwave Listener, DXer (and everyone else interested in the world of radio!),

now, here's what this is all about: The Internet Guide To International Broadcasters is a directory of addresses of "real radio" broadcasters that are present on the Internet.

"International" needs a further definition: The main aim of this project are broadcasters that have an international audience, stations that someone could listen to from abroad. One good example is the Voice of America, that by law broadcasts to an audience outside the United States. That means, that entries are restricted, as including "everything" would be a far-more-than-spare-time operation - and there are very good other sources on the Internet if you are searching for local broadcasters. But as to every rule, there are exceptions: Let's take the new entry of BFBS. BFBS Germany is a local broadcaster. I can even listen to it on cable where I live. But as BFBS is an operation from outside Germany - the United Kingdom - I have included this entry. Also, I got an information about a homepage listing medium wave local broadcasters in (or on...) Costa Rica. As this information might be useful to DXers (not restricted to shortwave listeners) - this item was also included. Some small sttates do not even have "international" broadcasters, and in these cases I tend to include the official state broadcasting stations. But I have not included every piece of information that I got hold of in the past. I got notice from many local FM broadcasters and decided not to include them, because this would let this directory become far to large. I understand that the definition of "DXing" differs from person to person, and I hope you like the collection that's presented on these pages. (And if you have asked yourself: Hey, what's this guy talking about, what is "DXing"? you should take a look at the Nordic Shortwave Center.)

Last but not least: Thank you very much to the numerous contributors of the Internet Guide To International Broadcasters. Without you, I couldn't have compiled all this stuff! Please sent in your contributions in the future, too!

Sincerely Yours,
