Artificial Intelligence was started the 21:st december 1997 by the two brothers Mathias Holm (Cliver) and
Sebastian Holm (Dj Bars). Both of them had by the time a lot of experience of composing music with
tracker software. Mathias Holm had been composing, or what the initiate of the 'tracker' scene would call 'tracking',
music since 1989 and Sebastian Holm started composing in 1995. Both Mathias and Sebastian wanted to make a name for
themself on the 'scene'. Instead of joining another music group or tracker group they started their own crew called Artificial Intelligence.
The reason was that they didn't just wanted to be, as they stated, "another member in some lazy pc demo group or music/tracker
crew"; they wanted the freedom of making their our own music and to run their own show the way they wanted to.
In just about four months, Artificial Intelligence and their members where reckoned by other 'sceners' as very
competent musicians. Artificial Intelligence recieved a lot of positive feedback which of course motivated
A.I. to make even more efforts which in return where very appreciated. In mars 1998 A.I. where playing with the idea of
making A.I. to a pc demo group. Shortly afterwards a coder named Bartek Tatkowski (shadowrunner) joined A.I. The first
goal was to make a cool little intro. As time flew by we realised that we where unable to find time for this so in the
end the idea of making a pc demo group where cancelled. A reformation of Artificial Intelligence followed and the goal
for the group where changed.
The first goal - to make A.I. recognized and respected by the tracker scene had been fulfilled. It was now time for A.I. to take
on a more challenging goal. To get a record deal. But the record deal is just one subgoal they have. In the end they want,
just as every other composer, to make a living of their music.
In July 1998 a friend to A.I., Robert Johannesson (Dr. Jam) joined Artificial Intelligence. He was a newbie at tracking but
had great motivation and inspiration. Robert and Mathias co-tracked the song 'Kiss me your fool', which recieved a lot of
positive feedback. By then both Mathias and Sebastian had been competing in some compo's (music competitions on the web) and
won several of them (for more information, check out the 'awards' section.
People from all over the world, as for example Holland, Germany, Great britain, China (Hong Kong), USA, Australia, Austria etc.
emailed fan letters, questions etc. to Artificial Intelligence. A.I., of course, thought it was great fun to get all this
attention.
In september 1998 A.I. realized how much time they spent updating and releasing new songs. Discussions by the members of A.I.
followed and a decision where later taken the 27:th october 1998 to focus only on their own music and not on the homepage.
As the Artificial Intelligence webmaster, Mathias, started working for GreenWare Sweden AB and Sebastian focused on midi music
and Robert started up a new tracker crew together with R-LiTE ('Future beats') the members of A.I. had no available free time
to administrate the homepage.
A 'slow' period followed with no updates or releases on the homepage. In march 1999 A.I. where able find time to start working on the
homepage again and the process of designing a new site started. In april 1999 the new A.I. site where launched on the web.
