Baolin in action

Jiang Baolin
was born 1942 in Shandong province at the age of fourteen he studied art for a teacher at school. in 1967 he graduated from Zhejiang academy of fine arts where he studied for masters like Pan Tianshou and Lu Yanshao. 1979 he got master degree for landscape painting under guidance from Li Keran. After this his reputation grow among the cultural elite and he had alot of exhibitions both national and abroad in counties like Japan, France, Germany, Korea, Taiwan and Sweden.

Jiang Baolin is the most diligent artist I met, whenever I visited him he was practising art from the great masters and he once every year disapeared for over a month sketching in the nature and when he got back he was always alot thiner but richer in experiance and insperation.
He is also a true humanist, always kind, simple and honest not regarding what kind of pople he encounters.

Hes is one of a the few most important renewers of chinese inkpainting tradition, he has the talent to discover patterns in a nature scenary and put them into composition but still keep the diversity, complexity and irregularity of nature.
He developed Li Kerans composition method by replaced three point stroke composition with emptyness a kind of invertering the composition by filling all places which should have been empty and put emtyness where it should be filled wich is very obvios un hes famous plum paintings in which you also can sense the landscape
