PERIO RAY is a filmholder for vertical and horizontal Bite Wing. In order to use the parallel technique when x-raying the film has to be moved far into the oral cavity to make the film remain plane and parallel to the symmetry axis of the tooth. PERIO RAY has a long bite-plane which allows the film to be moved far enough into the oral cavity. It gives a geometrical perfect picture of the tooth for a good diagnose of periodontosis and caries.
For patients with periodontosis the conventional horizontal Bite wing gives not enough information about root surfaces and the marginal dentine level. PERIO RAY for vertical Bite Wing with plan-film-holder-effect gives a geometrical perfect picture of the marginal dentine level and of the tooth for reliable diagnoses of periodontosis and caries.
For young patients and for patients with no marginal bone levering horizontal PERIO RAY Bite Wing with plan-film-holder-effect gives a geometrical perfect picture for reliable diagnoses of caries and a good control of the dentine level as well.

1.Keep the bite-plane of PERIO RAY between the thumb and the forefinger. Hold the filmholder in a horizontal position and put it in to the oral cavity with grate care. |

2.Twist PERIO RAY Bite wing 90 degrees clockwise and place the film parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tooth in molar and premolar regions. |

3.Push PERIO RAY with the film into the middle of the oral cavity in order to use the parallel technique. |

4.Let the patient close the posterior teeth in centric relation. |
If You are working without the Indicator Arm collimate the central ray on 0 to + 5 degrees.
Not: PERIO RAY can be used for Bite wing survey in the anterior regions in the same way as parallel technique for molar and premolar regions. The anterior teeth should be closed edge to edge.
