One of the most common styling hints for a 944 is to replace the old sidemirrors. Mirrors which has been standard for most of Porsches models in fithteen years until the year of 1993. When the beautiful Porsche 968 came to the market It had some distinguishing features sush as new sidemirrors, doorhandles ,sideskirts etc. I am planning to replace all those features on my car, but itīs kind of expensive to buy all parts at the same time.

I have started with the sidemirrors.

These are called Areomirrors, nothing else. Frequently used names are 968, "cup mirrors" etc, but the mirrors was standard from 1993 on all 911,968,928 cars until 1996, when the Boxter was intodruced. To get a good price I imported six sets of them from the Netherlands. I sold five sets and kept one for myself. The installation of 968 mirrors onto 944 doors is quite simple. The first step is to remove the old mirrors. If you rotate the mirror about the pivoting base you will find a single bolt. Remove this with the proper hex wrench

The second step is to unlock the mirror face by inserting flat head screwdriver into the bottom of the mirror through the hole in the rubber. There you will see a plasticlocking system. Move the mechanism in the direction TO the car. You can do this from the outside to, but it is tricky, and in case of badluck you can damage the glass face. The lockingsystem will rotate the glass face fixture to release it, and you will be able to pry it off with little difficulty. The third step is to remove the motor and disconnect the wires finally remove the mirror from the car.

To assemble the house with the base you could either make a special tool and waste your time like me, or use the right tool: a socket extension & bench wise..That'l manage the assebling in 20 sec.

Good luck! ;)
