Datestamped on the 12:35 on the 15th of January in Malmö is a small envelope made of thin paper. Not very strange is it?
Unfortuneatly it is. It is very odd indeed. These are the first 3 things i noticed with it:
#1: It is sent to my old address. I moved 6 months ago, which means that this is not a company that has access to the records of swedish residents.
#2: The return-address stated on the envelope is a postbox in the Netherlands. Netherlands? I've never had anything to do with any company at all down there.
#3: It contains the text "Postage paid" in four languages. Dutch, French and two others that I've never seen before (Sittard & Pays Bas).
It got me a little curious, and i tore it open, wanting to know what the hell this was.
It claims to be a lottery. A "pay-no-tax"-lottery. With 97% chance of winning. Cashing out 100.000, 1 million and 2 million DEM (thats a lot of money), *7 times a week*. Kinda fancy for a lottery that doesn't cost You anything, isn't it?
Well, going through the contents of the envelope I end up with another envelope, this time it is the one I'm supposed to send back to the lottery, having pasted the "winning percentage" stamps on it. It's not the same address as the one on the outside. It's not even remotely near. The only thing they have in common is that they both go to Post-boxes "down south".
A funny thing that I'd like to quote from the paper is this:
"You won't take any risk at all, as long as You use Your chances of winning now". Do I take a risk if I don't, or if I do it later? ;)
The company claims to have the name "NKL", meaning Nordwestdeutsche Klassenlotterie. There is not a word anywhere about the Netherlands, or why they would have a postbox there.
I started thinking about this today, and I've decided to check it out. I'm going to post the addresses here, and if You recognize any of the adresses, send me a mail. Here goes:
The return-address of the envelope sent to me: Postbus 5515 6130 PM Sittard NEDERLAND
The address on the enclosed envelope: M. Frehe Postfach 10 23 52 D-50463 Köln
